Winter Series:

Our winter series starts this coming Sunday 19 May for 11 races. Please note that there is no racing on the Sunday of the long weekend.

Also please note the change to sailing instructions for this series. The change relates to yachts using spinnakers. Yachts who wish to use spinnakers will be included in the series point score. Previous winter series have been restricted to non-spinnaker yachts.

Good luck to all and enjoy the cooler sailing over winter.

Wednesday Racing:

We have had good numbers on Wednesday racing, with up to 22 yachts so far. We have had one abandoned race and one with only 8 entries.

Only one division for Wednesdays in winter and the current standings are;

The Apple, Warren Hodgkins (28) ahead of Another Promise, Jeff Quirk (41) with Hoi Polloi, Phil Blanch (48.5) in third place.

Hamilton Island anyone? There are several of our members who travel up the coast for the tropical race weeks each year. Not all sail up, with a few who charter yachts already there for their week of t-shirts and shorts sailing.

Scott McGuffickle is in one such group who charter a yacht each year and this year they are looking for members to join their crew. If you are interested and want some details please contact Scott via email scott@acrocert.com.au or mobile 0432674636.

Dinghy Instruction Course

NCYC will be hosting Australian Sailing over the weekend of 25th & 26th May as they conduct a number of instructor courses.

There are still places available on the Dinghy Instructor course (minimum age 16 years) should any of our members be interested in this course.

You can follow the link to details about the course and the online registration link via our website – https://www.ncyc.net.au/dinghy-instructor/

(please note the Tackers Endorsement is only a requirement for NCYC as this is the specific dinghy program we run).

I understand from AS that it is possible to gain the powerboat licencing requirements post the course if necessary.

Should you have any questions, please contact Carl Webster at AS –carl.webster@sailing.org.au
